| Bernie has been busy, as you can see some more progress has been made. Bernie is working on the car in between other work that comes in to his workshop. | |
| Roof, wing and bonnet in thick primer to begin the stage of making sure the panels are smooth and free from indentations. | |
| This is what i have been doing in the meantime. I have removed the rocker cover, manifolds, water pump etc and given them to Brian for him to vapor blast, again thanks Bro. | |
| One side painted with black engine paint, looking good. | |
| All the core plugs changed, what a job this was!!!! The large end plugs are particularly bad. There is no room behind the plugs to knock them in as the piston barrels are right there. My kind neighbour Jeff gave me a hand, we tried drilling the side plugs and attaching a slide hammer to a self tap screw, but to no avail. The only way was to drill out the center's and knock in the outer ring. | |
| Steady progress is being made with the prep work ready for spaying. We chose the grey colour last Wednesday (13/07/05) and we were well pleased with the match to the original colour. It is actaully an Opel (GM) colour so getting extra paint in the future won't be a problem. The original colour was Metallichrome Siver Grey. | |
| Water pump prepared and sprayed in Hamerite smooth. | |
| Rocker cover prepared by vapour blasting, thanks again Brian. | |
| Things are moving on again at the sprayshop, Joe has been busy getting on with the painting. He has now sprayed the engine bay. boot area, bonnet & boot lid. | |
| The engine bay looks well, we are very pleased with the grey colour. | |
| All the external body masked off while spraying boot / bonnet area. | |
| The bonnet and boot lid now reside in our bedroom for safe keeping. The way things are going we will have to put up the tent to live in :-) | |
| I got the call today (Monday 01/08/05) from Joe to say that 2 doors were ready to be picked up. There are a few slight imperfections but Joe will take care of that when he has fitted them back on the motor. | |
| I am well pleased with the result so far, the grey goes really well with the black. I can't wait to see how it all looks when she's back together. | |
| My first glimpse of the finished product. I am well pleased with the colour scheme, i think we have got as near to the original as we could. | |
| I am beginning to be able to see what she will look like when fully assembled, mind that is still a way off yet. | |
| Good finish all round, a round of applause for Joe and Bernie. Thanks lads. |
