Because of certain developements at John's place Bob has taken over the welding. Bob has been in the trade years and is no stranger to working on cars of this era. He has got stuck in big time now, cutting out the rot as he goes along. He is concentrating his efforts on the nearside, as you will see from the few pictures below the work is extensive. Bob is a week into his work at this stage, he started on Monday 7th February 2005.

| This is the underside after i had scrubbed it down with the angle grinder with wire brush. Main bulk of floor seems ok. | |
| Believe it or not this its whats left of the nearside rear sill and wheel arch. This area is prone to rotting and its easy to disguise, as on this one a couple of tins of filler had been used. Bob has cut back to good metal and is making new panels to fit. | |
| From underneath nearside rear wheel arch looking forward. As you can see this area is well rotted. | |
| This is looking from underneath the car at the nearside undersill. Bob has made up the panels as per factory, really neat job. | |
| This is the man himself beavering away at making a new rear jacking point. | |
| Nearside front of the car, Bob has made new hinge strengthening brackets. | |
| Looking from rear to front of what is left of the nearside sill area. The unpright you can see is the centre door pillar. | |
| This is the inner sill strenghthening panel, it is important that this is intact. Bob has chopped out the rot and welded in new metal. | |
| Bob had to shape the rear corner with the rear wheel arch. | |
| A new rear jacking point in place, Bob has made this from scratch. If i do need to jack up the car i would have no hesitation to use this jacking point. | |
| New nearside sill in place, with the peace of mind that all the strength has been put back in the car. I intend to use waxoyl inside the sill making sure the drain holes are free, I have known the sill to fill with water if not. | |
| The area under the N/SR arch at the end of the sill was well rotted, again all rust chopped out and new metal shaped and welded in place. | |
| Neat repairs inside of rear arch, Bob again cut out all the rot and welded in new metal. Another place to look when making a purchase, its suprising what filler can conseal. | |
| This is under the N/S/R arch and just shows how much rot was found. This area has 3 layers of steel including a stiffening piece as the rear of the car hangs on this area. | |
| This is the result of what Bob had done, there are 3 layers of steel there, the last one being quite sturdy. | |
| Bob fits doors on the nearside to gauge the fit, as you can see he is not far out with his measurements. I am really pleased with the results of what Bob has done. | |
| Here she is all up in the air, there is even a heater in the workshop, can't be bad. | |
| This is the offside front inner wing where the chassis angles out to the sill. | |
| Offide front floor area with a total new panel in, all ribs etc have been put in with panel beating. | |
| Offside floor from inside the car, nice job Bob.All the metal Bob is putting in is the thesame thickness as original. |
